Anyone race on Vento's? They've done well on my road bike that I've parted out to feed my cross build.
I'm about 165-170lbs, and I'm a little concerned about how well the low spoke count and G3 pattern will do on a rough race course and my sloppy handling.
(I believe they're the 2005 model.)

I havent raced on them yet, but have been riding them on some pretty gnarley trails.. holding up so far.

Yeah, I'm looking mostly to use them as a spare. I've got Open Pros on the bike now, but contemplating replacing/trading the Ventos for another set of Open Pros.

Here's the way I look at it. You can get away with light wheels for cross becase your tires are so large and cushy that they actually take the brunt of the impact. I don't know I have always thought the bomb proof wheel mentality is a bit misunderstood. I could be wrong.

I agree.. plus.. the campy ventos are tanks.. the spoke pattern is probably not optimal.. but I don't expect any issues.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was suspecting such. It would be nice to have a second pair setup for different terrain/weather that I could easily swap out.

I did almost all of last year on Khamsins (HEAVY wheels, but also with G3). Had not a single problem. I actually thought they were great for cross.
