headed out at 8am...

took a different route than before... this is second real mileage on roadie ever, even since I got the wheels back, I haven't really been riding in the last 10 or so days...

stiff head wind out of the SE (it must have been 20-30mph with gusts...)... right at my 10-11 position... almost said F**k it and went home... pedaling was miserable 2nd to lowest and lowest gears is all I could muster... I had checked distance out there with the car but wasn't really sure... then came the hills... 5 6 7 8 of em right in a row with the wind descending wasn't the normal fun stuff...

I tried to recall where the two trees i had used as a 10 mile mark but for some reason couldn't recall which ones they were... so I pedaled on to a landmark...

turn and go back (i don't have a computer mounted and don't wear a watch)...

now the wind is at my 4 or 5 o' clock :D much better... I drop farmer with a hay rack after a few miles...

I can now use the big ring and seems like I am flying!!!

total miles 30.4 in 3 hours and 20 mins. average speed 13.03mph <<<gah...

starting to notice why cycling isn't a big sport here with this wind we always have...

pluses... I am glad I stayed out and rode... it sucked and it hurt but I did it and that makes me pretty happy...

2nd time out on my roadie and I cracked 30 miles!!! BOO YAAA!

PS... I stood on my scales today and noticed total weight lose in 6 weeks... 40lbs... 300 to 260 :D another boo yaa!

Wind can be a mood killer. Good on you for sticking it out. Though I can't figure out why some riders drop out of a ride due to wind (especially a paid ride). If it's floating out, save some for the work back. If it's stiff on the way out, float back! It all evens out as you see.:D

Keep hitting the wind, it will make you stronger! If you can do 30, you can do 100!:D

thanks Beanz... as far as floating it was much better on the way back... I freeking ZIPPPPPED along!!! Saturday I had a nasty crosswind and let me tell you... i would have preferred a head wind any day...

got some recurring medical issues with my shoulder and my job... un-forseen stuff ahead...

I may be having to take some more time off... (which is going to royally pis me off...)

stoopid shoulder anyhow...

Nice work... Sounds like we're in the same boat... Today was only my 4th ride on my new road bike. I went 25.09 miles. My ride sounds similar to yours, on the way out I was for the most part on a long, slightly raising gradient with somewhat of a headwind and I struggled to keep it above 14 mph. On the way back home I was able keep a comfortable cadence of around 75 and stay between 20 and 22 mph. I could have went probably another 10 or 15 miles but I have too much work to do tonight so I came home. As you can see I'm doing lots of work now!
