Hi all! I have this lovely Peugeot P20 (1986) that I'm fixing up and I'm looking for a place to buy a new or nicer looking (NOT RUSTED) crank for it. I'd like a fancy one, like the one pictured far below, but I'll settle for a straight replacement. Does anyone have any resources for something like this? Where should I even start looking?

An oxalic acid bath seems to be the cure-all for removing rust from metal parts. As stated above there is plenty of info on the C&V forum.
Just curious - does your bike have cottered cranks? And it is an '86 model? I would have thought if it was late 80's that it would have a cotterless crank. Were they still putting cottered cranks on their bikes that late?

They are still using cottered cranks in some parts of the world.:thumb:
I would try the oxalic acid bath, it works wonders on rusty chrome.

Ive heard that vinegar is good at removing rust too

First, yes these cranks are cottered, and yes it's an '86 according to the Peugeot catalogs and the decals.
Secondly, I will try these home remedies, but the problem with this particular crank is that it's the deepest pitted rust I've ever seen. I've been steel wooling the rest of the bike, but this thing is unbelieveable and looks ugly. I'm trying to pretty the bike up for my sister (pink cupcake bike!) and a rusty crank doesn't help even if the chainguard sparkles.
