I have a Schwinn 564 Aluminum road bike with Shimano EXAGE sport components, 7speed(2 chain ring front) index down tube shifters. I like the bike and its ride but would like to replace these shift and brake levers with a 7speed shift/brake combo system. However there are no 7 speed brifters to buy. I have found new and used 8 speed shimano RSX, RX100 and SORO 3300. Will these 8 speed shifters work with the rest of my components? I yes which is the best choice?

All advice welcome

Dave

As I understand it they will work but you will only be able to access 7 speeds on the rear. Adjust the limit screws to pick the top seven or the bottom seven.

no, 8-speed shifters will not work. they are designed for smaller increments between shifts, because the cogs on 8-speed cassette are slightly closer together than on 7-speed. So an 8-speed shifter won't index properly on a 7-speed cassette.
See my reply to your other thread asking the same question. But basically, keep looking for 7-speed brifters on eBay.
