The San Francisco Randonneurs have scheduled three 200K brevets for this fall, and the first one's in a couple weeks -- Saturday September 12.

It's the Russian River 200K, and it starts at 7 AM in the parking lot right off the Lucas Valley exit of 101 in Terra Linda. It covers similar territory as the Marin Century and/or Mt. Tam Double, but also includes a lot of roads not on those rides. Lots of rollers and short/steep hills, no major extended climbs.

All in all, a pretty scenic and relaxed route. If you're interested, the registration form is here (http://www.sfrandonneurs.org/assets/downloads/brevetentry-fall.pdf).

If you have no idea what "randonneuring" or a "brevet" is, see the SF Randonneurs home page (http://www.sfrandonneurs.org/home.htm) for more info. The short answer, though, is that randonneuring consists of doing timed, lightly supported rides (not races), the results of which are sent to French people for obscure purposes....
