Wow.

I'm a little surprised you couldn't find a rear derailleur with red accents.

What's she weigh in at?

I bet that is one nice bike. I will say (and prepare to duck as I do it) that no ridley has ever done it for me visually. I do want to put some time in the saddle on one...I have yet to ride a single ridley.

At the Spring Series I get to see a lot of bikes. Since it's one of the first races the bikes will see, they're new, beautiful, have the latest groups, the coolest parts, and they're everywhere. I rarely, and I mean rarely, walk up to someone and ask to check out their bike. Parlees with Record and Lightweights? There there and there. But when I saw a guy on that frame (it was blue - I can't even remember what group was on the bike, or even what wheels), I walked over. I'm usually a functional kind of guy, and I know that a top tube that isn't straight isn't necessary, but holy smokes the bike looked cool. All that swoopy doopy stuff is awesome.

I took a lot of shots of it at Interbike last year too. I just loved the bike, the presentation, everything. Our team even had a Ridley team buy but I couldn't go in. I rarely "want" a bike, but I'd buy that one if I could.

Effiing A. What a nice bike.

The controls are Record, the rear is Chorus but is tweaked and lighter than stock record. Comes in just under 15 pounds. The cables you can get in blue and black.

Still have the blue Noah BTW.

I'm dissapointed in you.

I love those frames though. Freaking gorgeous, and that seat mast is just sexy.

Order. I don't know if anyone stocks, or if QBP or one of the other big catalog distributors carry them.

I think I am truly the odd man out and may have "bad taste" by most rider's standards. I can never get into the curvy lines on the Ridleys, Specialized, Willier, Pinarello, etc. I find the basic IF or Parlee or Look to be the most aesthetically pleasing.

On another note, I am very interested in the bike in terms of performance. I don't suppose you got a frame weight did you? Also I know you have owned a number of high end race bikes; how does this compare in terms of performance? What aspects does it excel at and where is it lacking. Just curious. The shop I work for sells look, ridley, and parlee for the high end carbon bikes and I've always been curious about ridley.

I don't think so, haven't heard otherwise from the brain trust. The deal on the frame was too screamin to pass up, even though it was red.

1560g frame and fork with all the trimmings (headset, seat clamp, Etc), cut to my size, on my scale.

Best bike I've raced, hands down. Absolutely rock solid handling at any speed. Climbs very well. Sprints extremely well. Really comes into it's own at higher speeds, the better aerodynamics are actually discernible. With all that stiffness it doesn't beat me up and handles bumpy roads and chip seal really well.

Paint and finish quality is a cut above anything I've owned, other than the Moots, which had no paint but was finished beautifully.

I still have my Addict for heavy duty climbing stuff (stoopid light), it's an outstanding frame set also, but not in the same zip code for stiffness and the ability to "point and shoot".

The downsides are it doesn't have the WW seal of approval, and you get some noise from the internal cable routing when you hit a good bump. I'm also not a huge fan of any single bolt seat clamp, this one seems fine but I wish they had kept the design from the '08 Noah.

I could put together a pretty extensive list of the high end stuff I've had a chance to own or ride and I've ridden and compared the other two "aero" offerings that show up at the TDF. First time I've bought a second of anything.

Realized I hadn't answered this. Yep, small hole then ran the wiring internally. Soldered the speed and power cables inside the frame, ran them out a small hole at the bottom bracket.

Used the newer SRM sensor which mounts under the BB cable guide. It's located back of where you'd normally find it and doesn't sit perfectly flush. As a result you get a little movment in the calibration as you run up and down the cassette and the cable tightens. Going to remount this tomorrow.

Very nice frame. But what is up with a dura ace FD and chorus RD? Not cool. Also close the brake release on the rear brake, the shifter looks funky in the pic. Yes I am a bit jealous.

Read the reply earlier..the RD has been modified and is lighter than the Record version..with the RotorRings a Record FD flexes too much and doesn't always deliver accurate shifts...Function over form.

As EDR noted the Dura front handles the Rotor rings and the bigger gear differentials (52/36 in this case) better than either Record or Chorus front ders. I run that part on all my race stuff, especially the TT bike where I'm going up to 56/42.

This is going to end up in the mountains for training and racing otherwise I'd run a different small and big ring combo.

I keep the lever like that for enhanced aerodynamics (cough cough)...

cutting and soldering the wire doesn't change the readings on the Powercontrol?

Seems like it would alter the impedance.

waterrockets
09-03-09, 06:35 AM
I would hope the sensor sends digital data to the Powercontrol, where "on/off" is much tougher to screw up than absolute voltage.

now I need someone to send me a sensor with a cut wire so I can have access to the wires. I don't think I can get a probe into the little plug. maybe some needles or something.
