Wow. Great article. Thanks for your post. I try to explain to others what match sprinting is all about, and the kind of attitude that makes for a great one, but can never quite find the right words. I think this article give one a very good idea of the kind of "hard men of cycling" that excel at this discipline.

Very cool! Great article. I've ridden with Jack Simes in The Derby and a few other local rides around T-Town some time back. He's the real deal. I'm honored just to have known him a just little, and to have struggled to hang on his wheel several times. I can't think of anyone who rides harder, and has contributed more to this great sport of track racing better than he has.

And his son Jackie Simes IV has been paying his dues and getting real respect riding the professional six days in Europe the past few years.

Every one of us who rides a track owes something to guys like Simes, Jack Disney, Allen Bell and others.

Very true, Disney, Simes, Leusenkamp, Bell, Woznick -- they were all hard core track riders. And so was Sue Novara, and Miji. Both tough, strong women. Just being in their company on a ride is an honor.
