i did a search and didn't find much recent stuff on cervelos. i've been intrigued by these bikes since csc started riding them. i'm in the market for something good (i've been eyeballing a trek 5900), but think something different might be nice. Does anyone have specific experience with either the soloist or R2.5? Certain differences are obvious--one's much more aero, one's carbon. But the shop here doesn't have a built-up R2.5 so I can't compare. Thoughts?

Sorry Don D., I'm gunna do it again :D

Well, let let me tell you a little storey about the Cervelos...... :D (hee, hee)

Did you know that the Cervelos are one of a hand full of bike frames to pass
the "rigorous", "stringent", and "totally applicable" EFBe fatigue test conducted by the
german company, http://www.efbe.de/defbefrm.htm... click on "English version", then click on
"Road frames New 06/2004".

But, seriously, this testing procedure is a controversial subject on this forum. Nevertheless, the Cervelos
seem to be pretty good bikes, even if they're not as good as people like me say they are. :)

There's plenty of info on the Cervelo web-site to satisfy your curiosity:
http://www.cervelo.com/index2.html
:)

If any of my ramblings don't make sense, I'll gladly clarify.

I really was just yankin' your chain on that Cervelo stuff before. I just hope their getting the right tubes shipped to them now tho. :D

By the way, I can't load that Scapin website for some reason so I can't see if they have a geometry chart.

i remember the testing debate. i wasn't so much concerned about that. don, what about the tubes? i know they got the "wrong" tubes to put into the prodigys, but are there other stories?

Not that I know of. In an old thread, I was just lampooning Cervelo for how they turned what was originally a shipping mistake into a marketing point.

I have never ridden a Cervelo, but from what I can gather from the forums here, their owners seem happy and it looks like a good product. They were definitely innovative with their frames that converted from TT to road.

I wouldn't buy one cause the top tubes are too long for me, but that means nothing for others.

every review i've read said they are worth much more than they cost for what you get. and every one of them seems to have a really stiff bb.

My friend ride a SP and a soloist and he's happy. That R2.5 is nice.

i didn't know that about the top tube. might be good for me--i'm mostly torso. you can build up a soloist w/ dura-ace and the works for under $4K, which is attractive. it's just tough to pass up carbon...
