General Cycling Discussion - Wearing Women's Knickers

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

At Nashbar the Women's knickers are cheaper than the men's. Do you think there would be any problems for a man wearing women's knickers (i.e. long bike shorts)?

How would anyone know?

Right. I'm wondering if they wouldn't fit well, or if the chamois would be different, but I figure they're pretty stretchy.
Found somewhere else on the Internet:
"My husband Likes to dress up in women's garments. Only at home. Our children and I see him dressed up. We don't like it, but It relieves stress for him.
What do you think? Is it a sin, disordered or just a bad habit?
Please help me as this bothers me."
I recently bought some MEN'S climbing knickers from REI.
I plan to wear them in public. Riding a bicycle. A sin, disordered, or just a bad habit?

It seemed to me the few Woman Specific Bibs I have seen have a different Chamois than the men’s Bibs did. Different protection needs I think.

Part of the problem could be what you're going to be doing while wearing them. As long as you're not going to be doing anything like the two guys in drag that got arrested and were allowed to change clothes before going to jail you should be as OK in womens knickers as you would be in mens.

Probably not. My wife and I occasionally get our shorts mixed up and hers are definitely cut and shaped different. It's sort of like the feeling that you get when you put a t-shirt on backwards; you could wear it that way but it feels weird. I wouldn't recommend it.

Depends what you look like in them. you could find that you have a few lechers 'drafting' you.

You're already shaving your legs, so the threshold is already behind you. (Sissy.)

I wonder how many of our British members are really laughing hard at you.

I would stick with the guy designs.
Anyway the women's deep discounts are on mostly x-small/small sizes...
If it doesn't say "women's knickers" anywhere visible and its comfy, then I don't see any problem wearing 'em.
<-------SShhh....... ' been using a women specific saddle lately. Why? Because its comfy.

As long as they're not pink, I'd guess no-one would know.

I once bought a pair of Canondale shorts specifically because the pad was different. Picked them up at first because of the price, realized they were womens, was going to put them back, then saw the baseball cut pad. At that time, all the shorts I could find had really thick, bulky pads and drove me nuts. Tried one size up and they fit fine. They were more comfortable than any others I had at that time. I was annoyed when I couldn't find any more.
If going mail order ( Male Order? ) I'd guess one size up.

I wore a shirt my girlfriend gave me yesterday, and no one noticed the difference. Including me.

weird question, but you know what? I tried some on yesterday.
I was trying to find a perfect size/fit etc. and thought ... why not? well, it turns out the padding is a bit different. it is wider up front. you may find it looks somewhat feminine, meaning creased for your taste. the extra padding wasn't particulary annoying but I don't know how it would feel while riding. I suspect you would be more comfortable with mens' shorts for anatomical reasons

Most women's pants are cut for a larger derrierre in relation to waist size as well as having a different shaped pad so the fit might be a bit wierd. After all women do have different anatomy than men in the general sitting area. Viva la difference!!!.

I'm American, and I thought he meant women's underwear. I avoided this thread until curiosity got the better of me. I couldn't imagine what panties had to do with men's cycling, and I was afraid to find out...

I think it'd be fabulous. I give it two snaps up.

If anyone gives you a hard time, just hit them with your purse.

Or you can just wear your regular shorts. Then put some "Stay Free" women pads to act as chamois. They absorb well and are quite comfortable.... so I was told. I mean after all billions of women use them every month for daily activities.

How about wearing pantyhose instead of mens longjohns ? Is that acceptable for men ?
