I basically can get ether for the same price, thanks to craigslist. I need to know which one I should go after, I know there is a huge price difference retail wise, but what about what I need it for?

Well my plan is to add a Amped e-Bike hub motor kit to ether the rear or front (not sure which yet), would there be an issue with the Dahon?

So which one?! I have to make a decision quick.

Thank you all.

Nova.
Being able to accept a front derailleur is a win. :)

I'm a huge n00b, why would I want a derailleur?

Anyone else?!

Dahon has small front hub 74 mm in case you want to add a motor with 100 mm axlewidth you are out of luck ....

front derrailleur why not ? look on the bottom of the page ...

I think I'm going to be going with a rear hub, so I should be fine cause it's standard correct?

I just found the bike tire pump that is apart of the seat, which is pretty cool. I think the addons like fenders and rack make it awesome, plus everyone says Dahon is a good company.

Does anyone know if the Dahon gear shift is able to be separated from the brakes, for when I need to replace the brake handle with the Amped kit one

My other concern is I want to go with a twist throttle that I may not be able to install it considering the gear shift is on the right side, where the Amped kit throttle would go. ether one interchangeable?

Dahon gear shift is in no way connected to the brake levers, you can pull it off independently. I suppose if you wanted to , you could put the gear shift on the other side; it'd just be upside down. Wouldn't be too hard to adjust. Of course you'd need to cut down your left hand grip to fit the shifter.

Another option is to buy and install a Spacebar extra bar that mounts below your handlebar. Put your shifter or your throttle on that.

Isn't the integrated seatpost pump in the Dahon D3 model only, not the D7? You can buy it as an accessory for the D7.
