Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I was planning on buying a trek 2300 but i have changed my mind and want a 5200. All very well and i was prepared to save to the £2000 i need to get it in the UK. But browsing the US site, what they want in dollars converts to under £1500! I am being ripped off! So basically if i buy it at £2000 in the UK i'm not getting a £2000 bike at all, £500 - wasted. Is there a way i can get it at a price nearer to it's US value without going to the US? or are there any particular manufacturers that sell Bike's in the uk with less of a markup?

you need to take into account that the dollar is very weak right now. for example - a friend of mine runs a website where he sells $2000+ banjos and guitars, and he is selling more to folks in the UK and folks using the Euro than to Americans. It isn't necessarily about them being cheaper in the US, it is the exchange rate. So find the bike you like, and order it from here. I'll order something from the UK when we get a new president and a stronger dollar.
Our dollar is pretty strong compared to the US at the minute, especially compared to what it was a year ago. Still, I can get a Felt F60 for $1500 AUD in the US where it costs $2000 here in Australia. Costs $500 to ship it over if you use the stores shipping options though, so it isn't really worth it.
