Well I have been looking for a hybrid/flat handled road bike for a few weeks now, I really missed riding a skinny tired bike (so fast) but I didn't like the drop bars my Specialized Allez had on it, which was sold a year ago. I was looking at a Jamis Coda, but no one in the area had my size in the standard model, So I took a look at a 2009 Specialized Sirrus while at the second store of the bike shop I do most of my business with. Talking to the guy that was in charge of sales, who works mostly at the home shop, he felt the Sirrus would be a good bike to try out. So that is what I did...Rode about 2 miles through a town I don't really know, and just loved the bike.

So, I now have a 2009 54cm Specialized Sirrus in gloss blue! I had them put an anodized blue water bottle cage on it (happened to be Specialized branded) and I switched my bike computer and clipless pedals over this morning, then had enough time to get 5 quick miles in. I work second shift and I had some other things to take care of before going to work. I really like this bike, for having an aluminum fork, its as nice of a ride (if not nicer) than my Allez was. The V-brakes are an absolute godsend for me, I never did like or feel comfortable with the stopping "power" of the caliper brakes on my Allez. Since I took such a short ride today, I hope to get out tomorrow or friday for a longer ride. I also want to get some kayaking and fishing in...but I will be doing that this weekend anyway so maybe I will bike both days! Unfortunately some of the roads I generally cycle on have been tarred and stoned so I will need to find an alternate route.

OK, enough of my rambling, here is a quick snapshot with my DSLR. I didn't take the time to get settings right or even use my big flash, I was trying to get out for a ride...

Almost thinking of taking the chainguard off the crankset, but at the same time...it aint hurtin' anyone :)

A yellow water-bottle would really set it off. Looks like a nice rider you got - congratulations!

Thanks all! I love the blue. Just kinda pops out, ya know? :) My girlfriend actually commented that our bikes match now when she saw the picture (shes off at college) I got her a Trek 7100WSD 2 years ago, silver/blue...It is fairly light, I would guess 22lbs or around there.

The wheels should be good, v-profile rim and higher spoke count, especially since I weigh in around 225lbs or so. I never had any problems with the wheels on my Allez, and these seem comparable.

Yellow waterbottle holder? Eh...no. I am a casual cyclist, not a flashy road cyclist :D And, I don't really like much yellow. But hey, to each their own :)

I hope to get out tomorrow for more riding. I also have a frame coming next tues to build up a bike for my brother. Told him the parts are all his if he wanted to pay for a frame, chain and cables. Cant wait for that, either...I do enjoy fixing up bikes, though its nice to have one that needs no work and just begs to be ridden :)

Nice steed...can it wear fenders?

I believe so. I know the rear has tapped holes and pretty sure the fork does as well. Don't think I will put any on however, black fenders on this bike would look plain silly! And I tend not to ride in the rain.
