Well I have been looking for a hybrid/flat handled road bike for a few weeks now, I really missed riding a skinny tired bike (so fast) but I didn't like the drop bars my Specialized Allez had on it, which was sold a year ago. I was looking at a Jamis Coda, but no one in the area had my size in the standard model, So I took a look at a 2009 Specialized Sirrus while at the second store of the bike shop I do most of my business with. Talking to the guy that was in charge of sales, who works mostly at the home shop, he felt the Sirrus would be a good bike to try out. So that is what I did...Rode about 2 miles through a town I don't really know, and just loved the bike.
So, I now have a 2009 54cm Specialized Sirrus in gloss blue! I had them put an anodized blue water bottle cage on it (happened to be Specialized branded) and I switched my bike computer and clipless pedals over this morning, then had enough time to get 5 quick miles in. I work second shift and I had some other things to take care of before going to work. I really like this bike, for having an aluminum fork, its as nice of a ride (if not nicer) than my Allez was. The V-brakes are an absolute godsend for me, I never did like or feel comfortable with the stopping "power" of the caliper brakes on my Allez. Since I took such a short ride today, I hope to get out tomorrow or friday for a longer ride. I also want to get some kayaking and fishing in...but I will be doing that this weekend anyway so maybe I will bike both days! Unfortunately some of the roads I generally cycle on have been tarred and stoned so I will need to find an alternate route.
OK, enough of my rambling, here is a quick snapshot with my DSLR. I didn't take the time to get settings right or even use my big flash, I was trying to get out for a ride...
