Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Rossin 1983 7-11 Team Bike

I have a 7-11 team issue Rossin bike that is all campy and has engraved "Rossin" on the brake levers, chain rings, seat post, and brakes. The frame measures 23.25" from the top of the seat post tube to the crank center. It's all original except for the rims (still sew ups) and the paint. I had it painted along time ago and it's not so great of a job, but it is well protected and there is no rust. The bike does not have decals on it anymore. I am the original owner and have never crashed the bike. What is somethng like this worth?
Any feed back would be greatly appreciated. I am in the Portland Oregon area.

If it was a real time bike ridden by a team member maybe around $800 + depending on the rider in this condition (good, but repaint and no decals). The later Murray and especially Huffy bikes are worth more and the Merckx even more.

Good question, since it's important to establish that it is indeed a team bike (not that I'm doubting you, but rest assured that someone willing to fork over their hard-earned cash is apt to do so). The non-orginal paint does impact value, IMO. I think vjp's guess is pretty good, given the panto parts. If you could establish who rode it for 7-Eleven, it could impact the value as well. All of the 7-Eleven bikes are collectible, and someone may wish to fill a missing slot in their lineup with your bike. I personally think the Murray-Serottas are the coolest of the 7-Eleven team bikes, but maybe that's at least partly because I own two.

Very good points. A friend of mine rode for the 7-11 junior team and his Serotta was one of finest bikes I've ever ridden.

I won't say it's not possible, and I would agree if not for the non-original livery. Makes a difference with team bikes, IMO - I paid $1000 for my 7-Eleven Murray Serotta, with Murray-pantographed brake levers, crankset, and stem (and original paint).

I'm looking at it from Rossin perspective only and how much it would cost to duplicate it as is. I agree about the livery, it would only add value. The op's bike does have a number braze-on under the top tube which may help to authenticate his claims.

Just in case there's any question, I wasn't bragging on the deal I got. I'm happy with it, but a bunch of collectors looked at that bike and didn't buy before I scraped the money together. I'm happy to defer to you regarding price in most cases, though team bikes can be tough to figure. You're certainly correct about the number tab.

When I bought the bike form the team at the end of 1983 it was new and had not been riden - I think they swithched to a different brand for the 84 season.
