Hey all,

I've been riding a mountain bike off and on for about 10 years now, and about two months ago I finally decided to go ahead and get a road bike too. I also had a road bike back in high school but that feels like it was a lifetime ago. These forums were one of the most useful sources I found online when I was doing my research on different bikes. So a big "thanks" to all the contributors out there.

After many many hours of research and multiple test rides at the LBS, I settled in the 2010 Cannondale Synapse Carbon 5. It's still on order so I don't even have it yet but I'm so eager to get it and put some miles on it. It's practically all I think about right now!

My aspiration for next summer is to do the STP (Seattle to Portland) and hopefully a few other organized rides as well.

I'm sure I'll be visiting this site frequently as I break in the new wheels and get into the swing of things.

Welcome to Bike Forums. Check out the Long Distance forum to get tips on training for your ride. 200 miles is quite a goal!

When do you get your new bike?

Some people do the STP in one day, but most do it in two days. We'll see how my training goes but for now I'll figure on doing it in two days.

I should get my bike around the end of September. That seems so far away, I can't wait.

Ah, a double century in one day. The Long Distance forum can give you some great advice if you change your mind and want to try it in a single day. It all comes down to pacing yourself.

I haven't had a new bike in over 4 years. I'm jealous! It's so nice to get that first ride in when everything is shiny and new.
