Road Cycling - What size?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Simply put, I want to buy a road bike and am looking for a used one. I ride a large framed Specialized Rock Hopper right now and its a nice size. I think its 21 or 22". Anyway how does that equate into a size of road bike that will be comfortable? I all the way up to 60cm, would that be what I need?
I'm 6'2" with a 32" inseam.

Probably at 56 cm center-to-center. Try http://www.wrenchscience.com. Click on road bike fitting.

How did you measure your inseam??? I'm 5'8" and have a 32" inseam. I ride a 53 c - c frame.
Inseam should be from floor to pubic bone in stocking feet.

I am 5'11" with a 32" pant inseam but 33" pubic bone height. My Specialized Sirrus has a 58 cm frame. With your longer torso, I think you will be fine on either a 58 or a 60.

Ya know, there are probably a lot of different ways to figure out what size road bike you should buy, but I think that the worst one has to be asking a bunch of people who have never seen you and whose qualifications are unknown to you.

Thanks guys :-) How do you know if the bike "feels right". How to measure a used bike?
I can spot a MTB that'll fit me from a block away but I know too little about road bikes...
