I like how the leather Brooks doubles the price of the mens.

Man! I'd love a Classic Raleigh 3 Speed, but they just don't come in my size. I've yet to see a 47cm Sports.

Those are absolutely gorgeous bikes for a very reasonable price.

The Sports doesn't come in my husband's size either - The tallest frame is 23" and he needs at least a 24". I always thought this was weird, since the English tend to be tall. Surely there must have been demand for large Sports frames.

The seller obviously knows the worth of the Brooks saddle. Plus he did say that his bike was in excellant condition while hers was in good condition with a few scrapes. All things considered, that's not a bad price for a set of matching Sports. Interested buyer with cash in hand could most likely get a better deal.

Especially considering that these bikes currently sell for as much as $200+ each at a local vintage bike shop. And they go fast. Not joking.

The 23" men's frame goes for a premium around here, too, and a Brooks saddle adds to the cost. Most I run across are 21" frames. I got lucky with mine. That's a very reasonable price.

47cm=18 1/2" , if my math is correct. The Sports came in 21" and 23" for men, and 19" and 21" for women ( at least in the US--I've heard rumors that the Sports came in a 25" size in England). You could look for a Raleigh Colt, which came in 20" and 18" for boys, and 16" for girls: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/retroraleighs/catalogs/1964/index.htm (scroll down until you see it). They have a curved top tube, but are classic 3-speeds. I've seen a few around here, one at a bike shop, Hiawatha Cyclery, and a few on Craigslist: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ank/bik/1326478929.html (the Rudge looks nice, too.)

In the mid to late 70's (around 1976) they made the men's Raleigh Sports in a 19.5" frame size, at least it shows up in the catalogs from that era. I would LOVE to get my hands on a 25" Sports, never seen one or even seen a catalog listing for one.

@Sirius Rider if all else fails ride a step through.

Aaron:)
