Road Cycling - Final build on new bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Well I just ordered the last component for the new bike I am building. The wait for the frame is killing me and I can't think of any way to take my mind off of it. I thought I would get some opinions on the final build......what can I say, I'm bored.
I originally intended to just buy a steel IF steel frame and use all of the components from my last bike, all Ultegra. It was a good thought but it didn't work out that way. In the end the only piece from my previous bike that is going to be on this bike is the quick releases.
Anyway, this is going to be my new bike, any opinions are welcome. Also, I would like to hear if anyone has any guesses on total weight.

Always love to see the work that IF does. How about a pic of your new toy?

I will post it as soon as I receive the frame. I ordered it on May 20th. The delivery date is supposed to be July 28th. I'm starting to get a little fidgety. :)
thats torture having to wait that long. my bike is coming on monday the 19th and ive been tracking the shipping every 30minutes to see if it moved

I know what that's like too.
I called IF today and found out that my frame is hanging there in line to be welded. It should be welded on monday or tuesday. He said that I should receive it right around the delivery date they told me.
how much does those frame go for?
btw since youre building a new bike, do you have any extra parts for sale? :)

I went for the pearl paint so the retail on it is about $3300 for frame and fork.
As for the parts I had to sell my last bike to help with the price of this one. I did buy a cyclocross bike to ride while waiting for the IF though. I have just been riding it with road tires for the past month or so. It's not too terrible, after all I did my first century on it.

Believe me, nowhere close to rich. I sold one road bike and one mountain bike plus spent some extra money I had laying around. After all of that I still put around $700 on the credit card (which I just now cut up). I just figured if I was going to get a bike that should last I might as well go ahead and spend the money on it so I wouldn't want to upgrade 3 months from now.
BTW, I did make a couple of compromises. I went with a chorus cassette. There is no way I am spending $200 to buy a record cassette. I also went with an FSA crank instead of a Record carbon crank. The wheels were very reasonably priced as well. I bought them for under $400 shipped.

Sold my Ultegras on ebay for $75. Guy got a great deal, only had about 700 or 800 miles on them.

an IF Ti will be nice...I noticed you're using a 13x29 rear cassette, why not go with a compact crankset from FSA? The sl brakes are light, but unless you're a lightweight guy, you might want to consider stiffer brakes. should be a great ride! ;)

I thought about the compact crankset but I am not planning on using the 13x29 forever. I'm hoping that by next season I will be running a 12x26. The other reason I stayed away from it is because I really like speed on downhills and with the 50 on the front I would run out of crank really early.
As for the brakes I'm just going to give them a shot. I'm by no means a light weight but I just wanted to give them a shot. I got them for a great price (employee purchase) so at least if they don't work for me I will be able to get my money back. The only other option for brakes I have is record so I'm hoping these work out pretty well. As petty as it sounds I want black brakes on this bike so my options are limited.
You're opinions are very valid, I have gone back and forth wondering the exact same things. Oh yeah, another reason I didn't go with the compact crankset is because they are backordered through both our wholesaler and FSA in the 172.5 size. ;)

what color is it gonna be? it would be cool if you matched the color of the frame with a set of chris king hubs and headset.

I just realized you had campy. nevermind...
The front 3/4's of the frame is going to be pearl orange and the rear 1/4 is going to be left titanium. Until I bought my campy and started looking around for wheels I was thinking about going with Chris King, I couldn't believe it when I found out he doesn't make campy compatible.
