This is a neat e-bike with detachable sidecar made in Taiwan for Smike in Switzerland.

If you go to the company's web page you can see a introductory video that shows how easy it is to attach the sidecar. http://smike.ch/index.php

Oh, and the woman in the video is pedaling in high heels, for those disbelievers who've expressed skepticism in other threads on the board about women being able to pedal in heels.

That's interesting indeed. You know, while peeking around in the other places of the forum, I saw pics of people's xtracycle set-up. It would seem very logical to put a comfort seat on the back of that, with the passenger facing backwards instead of straddling the board. So many good ideas... Thanks for this one.

What I like about this one is that you could actually talk to your passenger. It can be hard to hear someone sitting behind you. From the video, it certainly looks like it's easy to attach the sidecar. I will admit that xtracycles are neat. Cargo bikes are a neat idea. I don't think the US will ever embrace bikes the way other countries have, which is too bad.

My ebike with a sidecar I made out of a Burley Flatbed trailer.
Side cars are neat and fun, but really more novelty than anything else.

I like your setup. That xtracycle is gorgeous. With a setup like that, maybe I could put my dog in a kennel carrier on the sidecar and she would fuss. I have a pet trailer for her, which she hates riding in--I don't know if a big part of the problem is that she's behind the bike and can't get a good view of me.

Thanks, I've just about ridden that frame into the ground.
I'm thinking about building a bamboo frame and scavenging the parts from the Giant.
