It looks cool and folds to fit into a backpack and can go 9KM at 20km/hr. Pretty cool.

I think it's great that someone is trying, but this doesn't look all that impressive. The 5000 dollar price tag is steep. Also, I don't think I'd want to ride that thing in real-world conditions; traffic, rough roads, etc. Consider the face plant, like modovincere mentioned.
Now being able to pack it up and carry it seems nice. But those last few miles from the train station to the office would probably be better done on foot.
1.2kilowatt motor and top speed of 20 km / h (12.5 miles per hour)???
With 1.2 kilowatts of power and proper gearing, (and braking capability) you could achieve a top speed of 40mph or more.
Because of its high power motor, lack of pedals, and lack of motorcycle type lights&signals, this thing might not be legal for use on roads or multi use paths in any country you might want to use it in.

Compact version of a Segway?
Aaron:)
Compact version of a Segway?
Not too different, now that you mention it:
All of the utilitarian capabilities of a $40 razor scooter, at about 100 times the price.

Yeah, if it ain't got pedals, it ain't a bike.

The Segway has a range of 38.62 kilometers and costs $5200.00. Is the price of the Yike in Australian dollars? If so it is a bit cheaper than the Segway, but no matter, I would prefer the Segway any day over the Yike.
The seat doesn't look adjustable on the Yike bike. That means some people won't fit it.
It just looks too unstable with so much weight over the front wheel. It is an interesting and innovative design. I suppose it was inspired by regular folding bicycles.
I wouldn't spend so much money to travel a maximum of 5.56 miles on one charge. I couldn't even make one round trip to my grocery store with that range.
