Training & Nutrition - Alpilot cycling software.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I downloaded some software from www.alpilot.com that works on my palm pda, and a second piece of software that works on Windows. It is possible to synchronise the two with the pda hotsync facility. Unfortunately the website doesn't have any registration facility anymore so I'm limited to 20 records. The software is very good and I would love to register - does anyone know anything about it? Thanks.
I'm not familiar with that software, but if you're looking for a Windows-based training log and ride diary, you might want to check out my CycliStats program (http://www.CycliStats.com ). It tracks all of the basic ride information (Distance, Time, Speed, calories, climbing, etc.) by Name, Bike, Date, and Route. It also track bicycle maintenance, so you can easily tell how many miles are on your chain, tires, etc. And, it tracks your personal health information (including weight, resting heart rate, blood pressure, etc.).
You can download a free, fully functional 30-day trial version from the website to see if it meets your needs.

Thanks for that; I'll give the software a try - it certainly looks like the sort of thing I'm after.

That site must by dead.. A little google search reveals the link is good, although the server is gone..

I'm trying the Cyclistats Bike software on the 30-day free trial, but am having problems using it for Tandem rides- the only reference to a tandem in the help file is vauge at best, and I can't get it to log trips properly. Has anyone else used this software for tandems, and if so, how'd you do it? On the same line, does anyone have alternate suggestions for similar software that might be more tandem friendly?
Thanks in advance,
Ramius.

Arrrgh! Thanks for pointing this out. It used to work, but it looks like some other changes in the program have broken it.
I plan on making it much more tandem-friendly in the next update. Specifically, when you enter a ride for a Tandem bike (as specified by the bike type field), it will ask you who the Stoker was. Then, when you save the ride it will save two copies - one for you, and one for the Stoker.

SSP - I am a registered user of Cyclistats, and have really enjoyed the program. Unfortunately it's on my computer back home and I'm in Iraq, so I've been keeping a log on my Pocket PC to input when I get back. My question is, have you thought of having a Pocket PC or palm version that would sync with Cyclistats?
Thanks
Jody

Whoa...do you actually bicycle in Iraq?
As for a Pocket PC/Palm version - I've thought about it, but don't have the time or tools just now to develop it. But there is a workaround. If your Pocket PC can open a "CSV" format spreadsheet (it's a simple text file), you can log your ride info in the spreadsheet, then import the whole thing to CycliStats whenever you get the opportunity to download it to your home computer (using the “File / Import” feature to import the file into CycliStats).
If you’ll send me an email with the your name (as it appears in your CycliStats database), and your bike name, I’ll email you back a csv file that you can use as a template.
My email address is garyg (at) shastasoftware (dot) com.
