Yes, they have been updated since the original release (longer cord, improved seals, 3hz strobe mode instead of SOS, thermal paste) and yes, you'll get the updated version if you order from geoman, can't speak for DX.

With DX it's impossible to know. They are known to ship different items for the same SKU at different times. I also wouldn't put it past them to sell seconds, although I have nothing to base this on except the totally crap quality of some things I've gotten from them.

I can't speak for DX.
But I can say that our inventory is pretty fresh, usually less than a week or two old direct from the manufacturer - no middleman. We import directly.
We submit improvements and ideas to Magicshine all the time. They seem intent on meeting our needs.
