I am partial to Red and I know Timber8 has a great looking Red FX.
What are your thoughts on a red hybrid. Say a TREK 7.3 FX ?
Thanks

Seriously?
i think it would look hot. remember ferrari's come in red :D
when i saw the white 7.7 fx on the dealers computer, i was like oh, that's not a color that speaks 'mens' or 'womans' - it's sort of neutral but i dont think that would matter even with red.
i'd say go for it... but if you want to bring the price down and it's on the dealer floor, ask him 'although im not looking for a red bike, what's the best price you can give me on this one?' ;D

Red is my favorite color. My car is red. I'm even looking at the Gary Fisher Tarpon in the unisex bike because it's red. It caught my eye.

My mountain bike (access XCL frame, almost full LX drivetrain) is red. Looks freakin sweet. My prior Allez triple was red, again, sweet looking. I have a Sette Reken frame coming (pricepoint frame) for my younger brother, he wanted red saying he liked the look of my MTB.
I say go for red, they look nice. However, My gloss blue Specialized Sirrus is absolutely stunning if I may say so. Red does tend to look fast.

I don't know if it applies to bikes, but red is one of a car thief's favorite colors.

I love red and have a red Trek 7.3 FX with black anodized Bontrager rims. Cool looking to me and it does turn heads. Good luck.

Red is the color-of-choice among men who are having a 'midlife-crisis' and go shopping for a sport's car. Really.

The bike I am looking at is for someone else. I had read a few somewhat negative comments about red bikes. I can't remember where I saw it or what they had said, probably on some road bike oriented threads. Since I know you esteemed hybrid owners are pretty astute, I thought I would "go to the mountain".
Anyway - thank you everyone for taking the time to weigh in. I appreciate it.

How do you know that? I suspect that a thief likes any color of a car he can steal and sell.

Here is some example data from 2002, courtesy of the insurance information institute. Scroll down half way for the data on color preferences. #1=white, #2=red

Nothing like some stats to back up a claim. :thumb:

I ride a red bike.
A bike that comes in a choice of colors is an oddity and I would be very leery about purchasing one. Get the bike you want in the color it comes in.

After I bought my red car I found out that red cars get more tickets, maybe because they stand out. Sure enough, after driving for 27 years, I got my first ticket.
Maybe a red bike will stand out more, but I want one anyway because they're so purdy.

Sell the car, you don't need one.

Dirty Commies! Better dead then red!*
* I have a red Trek 7.5 FX - or was - it's fully customized. But the frame remains candy-apple commie.

I think the red Trek FXs are nice looking despite my dislike of the color red.

I have always liked Black. All my trucks have been Black since I was a Kid. I bought the Red FX because it was the 1 they had in my size. Then I bought my red pickup because it was a deal I couldn't resist. I always liked Red so I didn't mind but given the choice I usually go with Black.
