I'm building up a crosscheck frame and plan on running it single speed for a while. Anyone got any experience with using a rear wheel with a skewer as a single speed setup? I'm concerned that it may pull out. With that said, anyone converted the rear Roval Pave wheel into a bolt on hub?

if you run this set up I would get something like a salsa, campy, or shimano skewer with lots of clamping force. I have pulled my rear wheel out of the drops on my xcheck enough times when running lesser skewers.

I'm doing it right now...however i haven't really comment on cx use. Mine is currently a city bike. I just made sure that the clamp for qr is on super tight.

I figured a good Shimano skewer would be good. Any of you converted the rear wheel into a bolt on?

You do know that a geared wheel will produce much more torque than a SS. Well unless you are using the lowest gear ratio.

The point is, you may be over thinking it. Give it a try and adjust if it doesn't work.

id be more worried about getting a cog stuck on the freehub body than tthe QR issue.
