Any suggestions?

If I can't get anything really "fancy" for that price, I'll probably get a Fuji; not that there's anything wrong with that. :)

Thanks.

Lemond Zurich if you can find the '03 it was all steel and a decent price. This year is steel/carbon frame.

I have a ritchey road logic and it is the best steel road bike I've riden! chech out www.ritcheylogic.com. the frame weighs in at 3.7 lbs, not bad considering almost all Litespeeds are 3.2 lbs. put a nice carbon fork on it and you're all set. I've seen ritchey frames come up on ebay every now and then. If I traveled, I would get their break-away! :)

A Gunnar (made by Waterford) would be a great choice for well less than your $ figure.
Give it a look http://www.waterfordbikes.com/gunnar

The Gunnar is definitely to be considered. Great frame from a top quality builder.

I took another route to the same question. I bought a 6 year old never used Lemond Maillot Jaune frame off Roadbikereview.com classifieds and built it up myself w/full ultegra. Total cost was under $1000 and it turned out comparable to anything in the $2k class.

Where is this LBS? The MSRP on the '04 Victoire is $3900, and I've seen it as low as $3k, but $2500 is an absolute steal.

Are you sure it was the '04 with the carbon/Ti mix (spine design) or was it an '03 with it's full Titanium frame?

check out the serotta fierte. (http://www.serotta.com/pages/fierte.html)

it's the only serotta model which is pre-made to stock geometry, as opposed to custom made to measure, but they offer a ton of sizes and their geometry makes total sense. (also, i know so many people who have custom-made frames that look just like stock geo anyway - why get a custom frame if you come up with numbers like 58 58 73?!?)

serotta frames are absolutely top notch, their steel is just so, so awesome, and to be able to get one for $1120 is the bargain of the decade.

and as if they needed to make it better, it comes with a kestrel EMS carbon fork.
