Commuting - Iron Horse Transit 3.0

Anyone have any experience with this bike?

They all look good, however I can not find anything out about these bikes.
I bought one for my son, just hope the frame is not complete junk.

I have a Transit 1.0 I've had for a year now with no problems for what so ever. The only complaint I do have is it came with 28mm tires and I like 32's much better. I'm thinking about putting dropbars on it for fun.;)

I didn't when I bought it. It's funny, I did Google search after Google search and found very little. What I did find was very positive.

Earlier today I found a MTB forum that stated they went out of business. From there I expanded my Google search and discovered they were purchased by Pacific in a bankruptcy deal.

Most of the info I found was related to their MT Bikes. Their suspension set up is quite innovative actually. The bike I bought is a Hybrid/Commuter, 2007 NOS. Nothing fancy. The components, as you can see, are quality for this type of bike. I just wonder about the carbon Fork.

We will see.

From what I can tell, the Transit 1.0 has the same frame except for the fork. They claim the Transit 1.0 weighs 25lbs. Does yours?
What type of pedals came with your bike, clip less or with a cage?

I've never weighed it. It does however weigh less than my stock world traveler's weight of 33 lbs.(I went and looked it up!)

Last I had heard Pacific (Dorel) had pulled out of the purchase deal. It may have ultimately gone through after the debt got cleared by bankruptcy. Their high end bikes were pretty nice, the low end was pretty much relegated to Dicks/other big box stores.

I contacted Randal Scott yesterday regarding warranty issues. They sell NOS IH mountain bikes. I believe RS is owned by the son of the former owner of IH. Their response:
"Thank you for your email. Warranty is through the manufacturer, not through us. Iron Horse was purchased by Pacific Cycle. Due to the way they were purchased, Pacific Cycle is not covering warranty on Iron Horse frames. Please let us know if you have any additional questions."

I also emailed Dorel (The parent company of Pacific) and Pacific about the warranty, however I have not received any responses. I do know the line was sold by bike shops prior to 07-08.

I showed the spec's to the LBS, asking if they had any leftovers that were equipted the same or close we could "negotiate a price on". I was told "we only sell our bikes at the retail price". I offered two bikes as trade, however they were not even interested. I like the store and the people in it, so I will keep going to them for service and accesories, however with this policy I do not think I will be buying any bikes from them.

What type of pedals came with yours? The listing said the Transit 3 came with a cage and straps, however they are clipless. I do not know what brand or what shoes would go with them. I put on an old pedal set with clips and straps. Took it out Sunday and had a good time with my son.:)

Coach, what shop was this? Only one I know of in your area that takes trades is Bicycle Outfitters in Leesburg.

It had no name clip on pedals I replaced pretty quickly with rat traps. Latey I've not had much time to ride except with my 5 year old daughter around town.

I ended up getting the Iron Horse delivered last Thursday. After some "horse trading" with the seller, it ended up costing me $339.00 delivered. In my mind, not a bad deal.
My son rides and enjoy's it. That's what counts.

Obligatory Garage Pics. I do not think much of the paint job, however for the price, it is a good bike. Hopefully the bland color scheme will keep it from thieves eyes and he will have it for a few years. :)
