This is from supergo.com. Has anyone had any experience with this bike or supergo? What do you think of a bike that is 699 and has shimano 105 and a carbon fork? What's the catch?

Scattante is the house brand of Supergo and all reviews of the 650 and the CFR indicate they are great bang-for-the-buck bikes. No reason to believe the same couldn't be said of the 550, especially if it is on sale.
Only issue I've heard is that of Supergo's customer service. Being a big discounter, the consensus is that their service could be better. I also understand they are in the midst of changing a lot of things since being bought by the same people that own Performance and Nashbar.

the consensus from roadbikereview.com is that it is a great bike. you may have to replace the rim tape however when you get it.

One of the issues I have with this catalog bikes is a unknown reason for making all the crank arms 175 except for the smallest frame ?????, Don't know why ? :(

My buddy bought the Scattante 2004 CFR Carbon w/ Double Ultegra and the experience was good
and the bike really is great especially when you consider that all the bike stores in Boston (Wheelworks, International, Community, Back Bay, etc.) won't let you touch a carbon frame for less than $2,500.
The only thing which he opted to change on his were the saddle (a lot of people have said the saddle it comes with is hard and he verified it - you'll want a better saddle). When it was shipped one tooth on the top ring was chipped. They sent him a replacement ring with no hassles. However, if you order the double you can't go back and change your mind and order the triple without having to incure over $200 worth of expenses. So, if you want the triple order the triple for the upgrade price of, I think $75, otherwise its costly later on.
As far as Supergo, I honestly don't know how they do it but it's worth the deal. And just so you know, I don't work for Supergo, or have anything to do with them, etc. I'm just a bike junky that knows that

Simple economics, it's easier to build a single spec for a bike than to offer a lot of options (which would mean somebody has to custom build the bike for each order). So they make the best "guess" in terms of fit on the smaller items. On top of the cranks they have no choice about stem length, handle bar width, etc.
