What is the riding season in the Northampton area? In other words, how long can you do road rides until the weather gets too bad (snow, cold, freezing stuff)? When can you start up again in the spring? I'm in central PA at the moment and wonder if the season is going to be much different. Around here you can start up in late March and go until November or later.

I'd say it's probably about the same as what you're used to in PA. We get the occasional odd years where the snow comes earlier in the fall/later into the spring, but you probably have the same issue too.

I live and ride in Northampton. You shouldn't have to worry about snow/iced roads until we're well into December (We have mostly non-white christmas's, actually) but it does get very cold (December average high is below 40). Already the mornings are in the 40's. But with the right gear and willpower, you can go into December with decent roads.

The Spring it may take a bit longer. Sometime in April will be the first time most roads are good to go. Stuff freezes on and stays that way for a while...and then it is a big slushie mess. But in conclusion, I'd say you can get near 8 months, sometime in April til sometime in December.

And it is a great place to live and ride, might I add. Check out NCC ( http://www.nohobikeclub.org/ ) (http://www.nohobikeclub.org/)
which I will join next season.

Hope to see you on the roads
