I joined a while back and just kinda been lurking and not really riding my bike much. But as of the last past month I have been riding every tue, thur, and sat. On mon, wed, and friday i lift weights. I have been eating much better diet, which consist of a diet shake in the morning, cup of yogurt mid moring snack, a bowl of soup, a fiber bar, and a low fat, fiber filled supper. i am up to 20 miles each time i ride now and the weight is now melting off. lost about 20 pounds so far as i am down to 375. Its been hard but now that i am in a routine i think i am gonna make it just fine.

My bike is a Raleigh Venture 4.0.

Congratulations Injun_Josh on your progress so far :thumb:. Just don't get discouraged when you hit a plateau. You just have to pedal faster to get through them ;).

Great job! As a guy who has lost about 100 lbs. over a couple attempts I've only got one comment.

Your diet is great in the fact that it looks calorie restrictive and it's obviously working and I basically did the same thing once. Then you wake up one day and re-enter the "real world" of food, eating regular meals and then you yo-yo.

Check out some programs like Sparkpeople.com where the focus is on eating regular foods, even restaurant foods but logging every bite.

I've done the yo yo think seemingly a hundred times and getting on a program that really doesn't have an end date and is more of just cleaning up my diet has worked solid for me for the last 1 or 2 years.

But let me re-state that you're doing great and if what you're doing is working for you then keep on keeping on. Just letting you know where I came from.

Your office, those signs, and the furniture smell like US Government. Are you a Gov guy like me?

Congrats on the great start!

May I ask how tall you are? Do you have a burning sensation in your thighs and do your knees ache after you ride? I only ask because you seat looks really really low in your picture. Did you adjust your seat for you feet on the pedals or so your feet touch the ground when you stop and ou yare seated?

Sounds to me as if you've made a good start. Congratulations!

The hardest part for me, over the past 15 years of yo-yoing, is finding a routine to fit into my schedule and that I can keep over long periods of time. Short-term is fun, and the first realization of losing weight and feeling fitter is a great boost. For me, I had to adjust my thinking to the long haul, and step back a bit to make sure I could find a routine, including foods and exercise other than cycling, that I can and will keep for years, rather than a few months as I've done so many times in the past.

Wishing you all the best, and hoping you find the right balance for yourself. Keep riding!

I joined the Navy in 82 and started Civil Service in 1990. I can smell government furniture and spaces through an internet connection.
