Hey, everyone...I'm out of Michigan and I just picked up my first bike in, probably, a decade. A lot of my friends from work are riders and I thought it'd do me some good to get outside a bit more often for fun and fitness (other than my normal routine in the gym).
Well, I did it. :)
I bought a Cannondale F300 today. I originally went in to look at a 2003 model (as they were on sale and listed at $500), amongst other bikes they had to offer. Unfortunately all of the '03s were sold, but they did have a '04 that was my size. After riding it and a bunch of others I decided the C'dale just fit me the best - and the shop honored the sale price on the '03s for the 2004 they had.
BTW, the '04 differs from the '03 in the following ways: Frame - Verso Mountain ('03: CAAD Mountain, double butted), Fork - RockShox Judy TT ('03: Manitou Axle Comp), Rims - Cannondale Earth ('03: Mavic X139, 32 hole), Hubs - Cannondale Earth ('03: Shimano RM-40), Crank - TruvatiV IsoFlow, 22/32/42 ('03: Sugino X150, 22/32/42), Rear Cogs - SRAM PG-850, 11-32 ('03: SRAM 5.0), Shifters - Shimano EF29-8 ('03: Shimano Alivio), Stem - Cannondale 3-D forged ('03: 1 1/8" threadless), Headset - FSA converter ('03: TH 1 1/8" in adapter cups) and Brake Levers - Shimano EF29-8 ('03: Shimano Alivio).
The others I rode were a Raleigh M50, Raleigh M60 (the M80 was too big), GT Avalanche 2.0 Disc, and Trek 3700 (the 4500 and 4900 were both too big). The Cannondale just felt right.
