Southwest - Phoenix East Valley

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anyone out there in the east Valley looking for an occasional riding partner? I try to ride every other day at least unless I punish myself with a longer, faster ride. (longer, faster is relative I know) Would be nice to ride with someone!

What are your cross streets?
Do you just ride road or do you mountain bike?

East Valley isn't as small as it used to be...

The most comprehensive list of club rides that I know of is at http://azbikeclub.com/weekrides.html . Many bike shops have organized rides too, but they are not listed here.

No offense but the op must not be that interested in riding.

sorry for the delay, gentlemen, been a busy last week or so. still been getting my rides in but not much puter time. I do appreciate your responses. My cross streets are Crismon and University. Just east of the 202 where it crosses University. I ride road and mountain although the mountain biking is a fairly new experience for me. I do enjoy the MB but would like company whenever possible.

I'd love to find something in the 16-18mph range. Any ideas?

What days do you ride, and what type of terrain are you accustomed to? I don't ride with groups and wouldn't mind finding one or two people to share the pain with. :thumb:
I work a compressed schedule so I get to ride (usually) either Tu-Sa, or We-Sa in the mornings (generally after I drop off the little one at daycare).

I usually ride road one day, day off, mountain bike, day off, then back to road, Try to ride every other day. Ride about 8 miles or so toward the Superstitions from Crismon/Ellsworth, then north or south a couple miles and back home total 12 to 20 miles. A lot faster on the way back obviously, but generally average around 14 mph for the entire trip right now. Getting faster, but it's a process. I don't really care where I ride, just do this cause it's right out my door.

ageyfman, try to look up the Arizona Brumbys. They ride several times a week if I'm not mistaken.

great! thanks for the great advice. I am also new to the area, and right now riding to work everyday in the AM and some days back - Tempe to Central phoenix, 14 miles each way. On my touring bike (80s steel) averaging about 16-17mph on the road bike not sure, but without the extra weight of the bike and the pannier, I am guessing better. Anyway, if anyone wants to ride one night from central phoenix, I am up for it!

It's the Red Mountain Brumby's. http://www.azbrumbys.com Their Las Sendas ride is Tue & Thur. Website says average speeds are 16-18. Starts a 5 a.m. from Hermosa Vista and Val Vista. If you're there at 5 a.m. you can ride with them. Great bunch of people.

I ride most Mon, Wed, & Fri mornings from Alma School and Warner at about 4:30 a.m. Average around 17 mph. I do a mostly flat 25 mile loop. I would love someone to ride with, too. :giver:
