Manufacturer, Retailer, Survey and Consumer Feedback - re: Felt and delays on warrantied frame

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hi all,

My first post here. I've read thru the posting requirements but my apologies if I've missed anything.

Cracked the stanchion of a Felt F5 1 month ago-no pothole, just a good solid downstroke. Took frame to LBS, was told it would probably be at least a 2 week wait. 3 weeks post, I call LBS, they say it'll be another month to month and a half for another (63cm) F5 frame, but that I could have a more relaxed geometry frame much sooner-declined this option. I've tried contacting Felt thru their online form but have received no replies after 4 submissions over the course of 10 days, nor can I find a phone number.

Anything one can do to speed up this process? I'd prefer cross ship and about 3 days wait, two weeks would have been tolerable, 2 months is ridiculous. I know the computer parts industry reasonably well, and the technique that works best is to find forums, post your problems, and then let the rep come and solve them. I'm open to suggestions, tho.

Best,
John

Felt has good warranty's.
They replaces a front wheel after 12,000 miles and one years use for me.

Overall, most manufacturers are in the process of changing out to 2010 modesl. In some cases, they have done the first batch, shipped them, and are now doing the next batch. Bottom line, they may not have frames in stock (one company I know of is backordered to November on some models/frames) and that's why there is a delay. If there's no frame to ship, then there's nothing you can do.

Moving to manufacturer feedback....

And here I was wondering why there was no email notification of a new thread.

To the OP, let me see if I can find a contact at Felt. If not, I'll speak to someone personally at Interbike.

finally found a phone number for felt (notably, not on their website, and they have yet to respond to the 5 times I've written in using their online form). waited for 1.5hrs to talk to a sales rep as the warranty guy wasn't ever around. finally got a call back from the warranty guy who gave me the third degree about whether I crashed or not, and after I assured him he wasn't getting sued seemed to lose interest in doing anything. Offered to have my LBS contact me about a frame upgrade that could be here faster (why didn't anyone do this 6 weeks ago? isn't the idea for them to make money?)

that was 6 days ago and will be 7 this monday. no offers to buy more, no contact.

I think I disagree with the idea that I can't do anything-if they've got upgrades that I'm willing to pay for, then my complaints-tho small-should start to add up as I post this more. had they upgraded the frame right off the bat, or even for a pro-rated price, I would have raved. now I'll complain where I can. and if Felt's got good warranties-how long do the bad ones take? 8 hrs on the phone, no updates, 6 months to completion?
