Syncros Mental Mags are THE best. Best bearing/axle set; best pins/pin layout; lightweight and tough.

Twenty6 are next. CNCd goodness from Belgrade, Montana.

Many DHers swear by Straitlines. They have the popularity, bling factor and the good looks of the Twenty6s but are really no better than either of the above.

Easton Flatboy is a good pedal for the money if you don't want to spend a ton of cash. They can be had for $80.

the syncros mentals look like meat grinders if you slip off.They have the capability of making your calves look like they were caught in a bear trap for sure. Fortunately, coupled with good shoes, your feet don't slip off. That's why they are so good.

have you considered the special type of pedal that actually clips to the bottom of a special shoe that has a special clip on the bottom of the special shoe?

I bought this bike with Clipless pedals but can't find a shoe to fit me (Size 14.5). I want to spend about $80-100 on pedals and as light as can be.

yep doug is right...the syncros mental mags are the best on the market. however, for the price you just cant beat the transition stepdowns (https://www.transitionbikes.com/Store/Detail.cfm?Token={ts_2009-09-07_19:12:22**-23731207&P=1419).

Depends if weight is an issue, value for money versus weight you can't beat Wellgo MG1's i bought mine for the equivalent of $60 and they are way lighter than most other flat pedals... The downside is they are quite thick, so you have more risk of catching them. A lot of guys i ride with use Kona Wah Wahs, not a fan of their bikes but the pedals offer a huge platform that is super thin...

A lot of guys i ride with use Kona Wah Wahs, not a fan of their bikes but the pedals offer a huge platform that is super thin...

I have Wah-Wahs on my DH bike, my backup hardtail and have a pair for the trail bike when I don't want to use the clipless.

They're super thin, big platform, relatively light, and pretty cheap. The pins are also bolts from underneath so they're easy to replace. Not sure if they're the BEST but I don't have any complaints about them.

Deity has a pedal that looks pretty similar to the Wah-Wah, just more blingy and more expensive.

I have a set of MG1 Ti's, lighter than my Eggbeater Sl's But as you mentioned they do seem to snag on a lot of obstacles. My experience with platforms is limited to this pedal. So I can't give a comparison.
