hello
iam looking for info on buying a bike for ironman and i came across three bikes in my price range which isnt huge . what bike would be best for first time ironman . Norco crd series 4 7005 aluminum, Cannondale R1000 or a older specialized allez . any help would be great

Hi Pinch, welcome to the forums.

As far as I can see none of those bikes are triathlon specific. Whilst that is not necessarily a bad thing, you might want to think carefully about how you are going to rig them for longer distance training and riding. Aero bars and steeper seat angles are the 'norm' for triathletes in non-drafting events like IM.

Have a chat with your local triathlon shop, or with someone at the local tri club if you have one, about the kind of things people ride for the longer distances.

Give us an idea of your limited budget, and I am sure people on here will be able to point you in the right direction.

Now, as minor inspiration, here is a piccie of my latest build, which I put together for just over €200. Goes to show that you can make a reliable, comfortable tri bike without having to sell a kidney.

for an ironman, try to get something carbon, probably used
You want to be comfortable, you will be on the bike for 112 miles.
