I just paid 75 for mine but its a 1974 first year out. 10 speed 30 lbs 27" rims freewheel servicable wheel and BB bearings. Sold new for ~$140

Is that a 7 cog freewheel or freehub? It makes a lot of difference in shifting and parts options.
They're not race bikes, at least not the first 8 years, but what schwinn used to call a sport-touring bike meaning around town like a hybrid but with the racer styling, heavy but well made- nice alignment good parts and durable. Later Le Tours were lighter from what I hear and probably much better adapted toward stuff like centuries than the old tanks but still not racers. I'll post it on the schwinn forums if you'd like.

Can you get me the serial number? Try the dropouts, headtube, and bottom bracket(even the bottom of the bb) for the number.

that bike is from the mid 90s i think. its probably worth more than 140 to a lot of people because its somewhat modern (700c wheels, indexed shifting)

I have the exact same bike, I bought it new around 98-99, and have upgraded the components over the years ... I'd say if you like the bike, go for it. I used mine as my "retro ride", and on days I don't want to take the new bikes out. It's still going strong,
and because it's a steel frame, with touring geometry, it has a good ride.

$140.00 is probably a pretty good price if it's in good shape ... looks clean in the pic.

I think its the downtube shifters that drops the price of these so much, everyone wants clickity snapy fingertip fancy shifting. I don't mind DT shifters my self as long as the chain moves clean and quick from one sprocket to the next. That and they're not ultra speedy "race" bikes.
