They work as well as Simplex gear of the same era, and they don't shatter without warning.

I road them for years. Guess I just didn't know any better :D
Ironicaly, the front derailleur failed when the cage bolt slipped and allowed the cage to wrap up in the chain. So they can break. But that was a 20+ year old derailleur at the time and probably would have been fine if I had caught it and tightened that bolt.

These aren't Beauty queens, but Actually just got a set. I need the derailleur hanger but would part withthe rest. ( I MIGHT be able to use another hanger but i'm not that far on the build and am not sure if the one I have is going to work or not. If it does then I could give it up complete)
They're clean but have a little patina from sitting. Looks complete and functional

Well, I have set now (thanks bashermax) - the rear is excellent but I think I'll keep looking for a better front so if anyone else out there has a really nice, clean Valentino front derailleur I'm still looking.
