Hey gang - Sorry for the delayed posting. Well I have moved into my first home ever! It's a beautiful townhome outside of Atlanta - 3 stories, 3 sides brick and a bargain! Moved on Friday!

Saturday rode in a Metric century - MACC One Love, Sunday - had some friends over for a Bar B Que (my first time owning a Bar B Que!! Monday rode with the A group of my bike club C4. They tone it down on holidays (And winter base mileage training -s o I can ride with hem again soon too). We rode about 46 miles over some hills, a long dirt/rocky road...I told myself you will be ok. It’s ok as I pictured falling...rode downhill pedaling and using brakes and uphill juts tried to put it in a harder gear than I like - and be sure and pedal smoothly. Quite a workout - I thought maybe it was a secret ritual/initiation or something they saved just for the Yankee in the group. Anyway it was more due to a GPS route we used to get to our end point (One of the member's farms where we went and said hello to the horses and had a drink or two (The boys love their beer) and then rode up his steep driveway and back to our start.

Anyhoo - I thought I would lose 10lbs just walking up and down stairs in my new house..but not a drop.
So looks like you have to work at losing weight - but at least I am still in the 170s and not suffering the humiliation of gaining weight which was my life most of the time, so maintaining is a pretty good achievement too, thought I would like to lose 30 pounds...so let’s see how much desire I have... right now- I just want to maintain and then drop more when I get a new assignment and hit Subway again for most dinners.

Tuesday - Women’s Bike Ride
Wednesday - Try to ride to the path. May need to figure the route out. Buy a weight lifting DVD?
Thursday - Ride with C4 at horse park...
Friday - Lift again?

OK - Keep going guys = you inspire us all. Let us here how you are doing. Everyone has a story - and sharing your success and screw ups will help others. Remember if you go off the path one day or meal simply resume. No diet/plan was ever broken with one transgression, but it's how you react and go forward.

No drop this week, still the same, but I have increased my fitness times and distances, so I am going to call it a wash..

well I had the curse of dragoncon. Weighed myself Thursday Morning and was 242. WEighed myself this morning and 250. 4-5 days of alcohol and rich food did as expected and the gain over those days was not to be unexpected. Goal this week is to try drop to 245 but any loss is acceptable. Bike trainer being delivered today for winter months so will have to run that a few times during week to test out.

I managed to lose three pounds this week although it was up and down. I weighed myself middle of the week and I was showing 245 after some hard riding, but it must have just been water because I'm back up to 248 this morning after the weekend. I had some good rides this past week, but its raining here all week and two rides have been canceled so far. I have a Metric Century on Sunday, so I hope to get at least a couple short ones in this week before the long one.

Current Weight = 248
Last Week = 251
Lost = 3lbs

How exciting to move into your first home!! I remember mine like it was yesterday, although a long time ago. I think that all of the stress and activity that goes on around a household move makes it hard to stay on track and you seem to be holding on well. I sold a house and moved almost two years ago now, and that is when I lost the most control of my health and weight. Keep up the good work!!

No weigh-in for me this week, I traveled home to Missouri for the long weekend to attend my 10 year high school reunion. Thus, I ate like crap and drank lots of beer, so couple that with not riding in over a week and I'm quite sure I put on some pounds.

On the plus side, I just got home from a nice 30 mile ride, my longest ride to date on my new bike. It felt great, the weather was perfect, and the MUPs that I ride on had almost no traffic. My goal was to finish 30 miles in under 2 hours of riding time. I came up a bit short, I came in at 2:08:19. Oh well, I'm not complaining considering I've had the new bike less than 2 weeks and this is only my 6th ride on it.

I pulled the bike down from the garage for the first time in over 5 years at the end of July. Over the past 6 weeks, I have dropped 10 pounds, 245 > 235, and while I would like to think it was all due to the bike, I also have adjusted some of what I have been eating/drinking. Sure hope the lost weight doesn't find it's way back !

Most of my rides are 25 miles or less, but today's ended up right at 29 miles, in 2:09, so my time is close to yours Jersh. At 54, getting back into shape takes longer than I recall, but the progress is extremely motivating. I just wish I had started early last spring rather than the end of the summer.

Well, it looks like quite a few had to deal with maintaining for the holiday weekend. I had the same results. However, in the past when I've traveled and eaten out every day it was a sure thing to gain weight. I had two days business travel this week and two more travel for the holiday. Normally that would mean at least 5-10 lbs. weight gain. This time, a 1/2 lb. drop. That's a first for me and it feels as good as loosing. I did get in 140k of riding this week, which is a low number, but it was enough.

Hey, MissBumble, congrats on your new home. Enjoy the heck out of it.

John

It was a bad weekend for me too. I was doing good untill Friday, blew off my ride and went bowling with my sons. Fishing on Saturday, then just got lazy. I did manage to lose 1 pound though. Hopefully this week will be better.

Lost 5 pounds last week. I'm down to 285 for a total weight loss of 70 pounds. I had to put off my 35 mile ride until next Sunday. Saturday was a bad day for me. South Alabama held its first college football game and we tailgated from 8AM until kickoff at 4. I made my 70 miles for the week, but my rear wheel went out of true. I took it by the shop today and they said it would be Thursday before I could pick it up. I really love riding my old Bianchi Cross. I have not been riding my Hardrock much since I had a broken spoke replaced on the Bianchi's rear wheel two weeks ago. I need to find out what is causing my rear wheel to warp so easily. I've only put a little over 100 miles on it since it was trued two weeks ago.

John as well as dealing with the holiday for eating and drinking I ended up injuring my knee (unsure how - alcohol related. as a 240lb guy I cant drink as much as I was at 310lbs) I have not tested it by riding yet but 5-6 days now and its still a problem!

Busted my 3 week plateau!!!!! I was stuck at 254 for 3 weeks and it was growing very frustrating to say the least. This morning I stepped on the scale and it read 248 :D DOWN 6. I knew I was beginning to lose, but waited until this morning to step on the scales. I didn't do anything different except upped my water intake. I am sure there was other things I did, but was not noticeable to me. I have not been below 250 in over 2 years. WhoooooHooooo!!!

Congrats on achieiving your goal of getting past the 250 wall. I just did this myself and I know how it feels. Next big one will be 225 and then 200. Keep up the great work!!

Lost heart a bit since I have not managed to reliably shift off my plateau.

Been sticking at the 94kg mark (daily variations, hydration etc) for about 3 months now. It is disappointing after I managed to shift quickly and steadily down from 100kg over the first few months of the year.

Maybe it is a seasonal thing? Perhaps I'll get moving again in the first few months of next year?

Thanks Don! I seem to entertaning, cooking etc. Buying wine/beer for visitors (And me) so it is an achievement to stay stable.
Tonight I am cooking swordfish and having a bike ride with a friend on our trail and tomorrow my new neighbor is coming over - she's bringing salsa and I bought chips. I guess moderation is key and if I can't handle having the chips here - I will throw them out after the event if necessary.

Hi Jersh - why not weigh in too? The time I gain the most weight is when ignore the scale - the good, bad and ugly.

Don't give up. I was stuck on 254 for 3 straight weeks. I tried everything. I think my body was just adjusting to my increased mileage. I put in 439 miles for the month in August, but no weight loss. You can imagine how disappointed I was. BUT, several days later it began to drop and when I weighed recently I lost 6 pounds. I think the body has to make internal adjustments and mine realized I was increasing my mileage and began to burn more fuel to accomodate the increase. No, I am not a doctor but I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express once.

Been away from here awhile...

Have been bouncing between 200 and 205 for the past month or so. Can't seem to crack 200. My goal was to be at 190 now. :(

Riding my first century this weekend (13th). Have confidence I will complete it, but want to be in at 7 hours or less. This was my second goal. :thumb:

Hopefully I'll be 1 for 2 after the ride. Keeping my fingers crossed, though it is hard to hold onto the handlebars like that!

Keep up the great work. Lots of people posting here this week. Lots of Fall Centurys beginning this month and next, so we should be able to drop a few more lbs during those rides!!

I'm riding in a Metric Century on Sunday as a training ride for the Seagull Century in Ocotober.

Wow, big week for lots of us folks. I love reading through the hard work, struggles and trumphs in this thread every week.

Miss B - congratulations on surviving the move. Must be very exciting times for you. next time I'm in Atlanta, you'll have to invite me over for a bike ride and BBQ!;)

My week was pretty bad as far as exercise and diet go. Two workouts, two bike rides (both short) no sleep, binged a couple of times including, TWO trips to drive thrus for burgers, fries and coke - - - - and I STILL lost 2 1/4 lbs! Down to 244 3/4. Hard to understand, but I'm not complaining.

This week has been hectic with three kids going back to three different schools, baseball, cross country, back-to-school night, etc.!:twitchy: Hopefully next week the routine will get a little less hectic and I can get back to serious weight loss work.

Got out for some longer miles today. 5 hours in the saddle.

Weighed in post ride at about 92.5kg despite drinking 5+ litres of fluids along the way. Let's see what the early week 'official' weigh in is like.

Congrats on the great work/results this week guys. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's progress Monday. I just finished my first 25 mile solo ride this morning. It looked like I was going to get wet early, but by the time I reached my turnaround the clouds parted and I was treated to a beautiful ride along Mobile Bay. When I returned home I treated myself to a little Bob's Red Mill Muesli.

really surprised this past week. Was looking for a 4-5 lb loss which I thought was pushing it. After doing a mountain bike race I weighed myself and I am down to 241 so a 9 lb loss for the week (only really a 3lb loss for last 11 days *LOL*). As noted I also got to ride some this weekend.
