I just came across some brand new, never left the store since the 70's, schwinn 10 speeds. I purchased one for $300 and in less than a week have already fallen in love. I discovered these in a rural town. Being that they are 70's models and have had not one owner, at $300 a piece is this a gold mine for flipping?
Gold Mine? Nope. 99% of the adult Schwinn bikes made back then are not worth more than about $200, regardless of condition. And a bike might be NOS, but it has been sitting for 30 years or more, so it will still probably need new bearings and grease, new cables and housings, new tires, and so on.

thanks for the info. after scoping ebay, that was about i was expecting to hear. I'm guessing this is a case of "too new to be vintage and too old to be practical".

Well, it was hinted at but let me clarify a bit.
It all depends on what model of Schwinn it is... 10 speed does not help. If it is something like a NOS Varisty, Suburban or continental... then no, it's not worth 300. BUT there are other Scwhinns that would be worth it, something like a Super sport, sports tourer, volare, superior, and of course.... a paramount.
Look into what model it is specifically, it will help us help you.
No pictures, never happened. Spoof.

Like mkeller234 says, "70s Schwinn 10-speed" is way too generic. Its value depends on what model it is.
