I need to replace my front derailleur after going from a triple crankeset to a double one. The rest of the bike is all 8 speed Sora. Do I need to find an 8 speed derailleur or can I use a 9 speed?

If I used the 9 speed what issues will I face?

FD shouldn't care too much if it's 8s or 9s.

i think the 9sp FD cage is narrower. it will still work but you may need to trim the FD more after rear shifts. i run a 9sp deore on my 7sp bike and this is what i have found.
