BMX - I bent the **** out of my crank yesterday/frame recomendation

Either that or the hole it goes in got ovaled out. Its still rideable, but it squeaks really bad, and you can move the entire sprocket/crank setup up and down and side to side. I guess now would be a good time to get a good strong frame :lol:

What would you folks recomend for me.

Heres the stats:

heigth- 6' 5"

weight- under 170

inseam- 32"

style- street/flatland



Im looking to build my own, ive already searched ebay and craigslist and didnt find anything i like.

I need a frame that can with stand major thrashing and beatings(i ride pretty rough) and hopefully i can get one for under a hundred bucks. i've got everything else, all i need is a frame and crank/sprocket setup.

Anybody have any ideas?

good luck even getting cranks and a sprocket for under $100

well, im not really huge into bmx so i dunno what the high end brands are (unless its a Mirra but thats only cuz the LBS i deal with sells them)
why not just pick up a Diamondback or Ironhorse.
they usually run around 160-260 from what i see pending on the model.
i know the FAQ says under200$ = crap, but if u want something to get ya movin quick and wont break ur heart if u thrash it i guess thats the ticket, plus i guess if u wanted to you could upgrade SOME of the parts and move em to a new frame if you so wish

Did you bend the cranks, frame or both? You could probably get a good frame for about $200, cranks $100 and some cheap sprocket. Try craigslist. Get a chromoly frame.

So many cheap frames in there close outs section, and they are reputable.

I don't want to sound like a spokesman or anything, but you can find cheap frames in the classifieds on BMX-Forum. I could have gotten a 21" Seshin S***Hawk for $135.

That Simple Enigma on Sidewall looks real nice too. If it's still there by Christmas, one of them might be mine.

I think i mainly bent the crank, When i pedal and the left side pedal gets all the way up it squeaks. I can also move the entire crank/sprocket setup in a circular motion by hand(not like when your pedaling, like I can move it up and down with out pedaling.


I think i mostly need stronger components, im pretty rough on my bike.

Your going to have to take a picture for clarification. I'm not entirely sure what you need to replace.

Does your BB fit the cranks? Sounds like the bore is too big.

I was thinking that it was probably an unsealed bb or 1 piece crank that has come loose or the bearings and cages needed to be replaced.

That's the piece thats squeaking though! Every time the left pedal gets vertical with my leg it squeaks!

OK, so if it is an unsealed bb, then you simply need to have the bearings and cages replaced.
They are only about $2 each. And you probably need them for an unsealed american bb.
If you think you can do it yourself, i will post the other 2 pictures that go with the picture above on how to replace them.
If not, Just take it by a shop and have them do it.
