I just got a triathlon top and want to try it in a pool before I do a triathlon in it (just to get a feel). It's 92% Polyester 3% spandex body with a 94% Nylon and 6% Spandex Mesh. How harmful are pool (one would be a University pool and another a Lifetime Fitness pool) chemicals to triathlon tops? I know the chemicals are fairly rough on triathlon short padding but wasn't sure about the tops.

I'm guessing a few swims would be okay in it.

Any thoughts?

I have that top, its good very comfy.

You can wear it in a pool, but just make sure to rinse it as soon as you get out. I wouldn't wear it more than a couple times at most in the pool tho, the colors will start to fade quickly and it wont feel as soft. Thers not much to get used to it fits tight and theres more than enough room for your arms and shoulders, you barely know its there.

Unless those pools are very poorly kept up, the chemicals in the pool are in the minimum PPM range and should not be too bad on your gear. Just rinse it out in the shower and let it air dry.

If you want to know what the pH is or the level of the Chlorine or Brohmine, just ask the lifeguard on duty. They should know what the water level is, because they should not let people in the pool if they don't know if the water is safe to be in or not.

I think the biggest problem is that the colors might fade a bit.

I doubt using it in the pool a few times will cause any noticeable change. Like others have said, just give it a good rinse when you get out.
