Any experience here in R&Ring Deore shifter pod to XT pod and leaving the cables on the bike?
This can be done correct, just the pod?

Nope. You are going to have to at least remove and replace the cable and, if it was my bike, I'd replace the shift cables while I was at it. Cables are cheap and you can't get crisp shifting with rusty old cables.
The shift cable has what looks kind of like a mushroom on the end that goes into the shifter. There are only two ways to get it off: cut the cable or pull it through all the way from the derailleur.

I have a 2004 Klein Attitude brand new,the last thing I want to do is change the shifter cables(internal). So I was going to just change the pods since the cables are brand new!
Oh well............I'll get the shop to do it........crap!

Why do you think the shifter pods need to be replaced on an almost brand new bike?

Those Deore pods are light, work well, and last forever. If you just gotta upgrade, take a black sharpie and mark over the logo, now you're stealth.

You may be able to scratch off the printing.

Get some Testors paint and a fine brush, and write "Altus" on them...
