The poll makes no sense.

Well I am a regular snowboarder but I don't favor sides during my biking but I am not a super badass either so I can't pick any of the choices above. :)

Goofy on snowboard/longboard/wakeboard. Right or left forward on bicycle.

Why not? It's a 2 part question.

1 - are you regular or goofy?
2a - which leg forward when you manual? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-Nn4Z5WVIg
2b - which leg forward when you bunnyhop? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpYpT5Esl9w
2c - which leg forward when you nose manual (endo)? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1v7ggyg_Doc
2d - which leg forward when you pedal kick? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cuo7BslZXz8
2e - which leg forward when you front wheel hop? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZcz9-bOlb0

One leg has to be forward, right? Is it always the same leg?

I guess you can have your legs at 6 & 12 o'clock too (never thought about that).

It's a lame-ass poll because it didn't occur to you that some people may not skateboard...

I'm boring, surf left foot forward and ride with my left foot forward too. Most people have a favored front leg, if you've never thought about it try it next time you're riding, just put the other foot forward and see how odd it feels...

Regular on everything! left foot forward.

Silly rabbit, tricks are for kids.

Or haven't you been reading the recent 29er threads?

Left foot dominant in BMX flatland. It's the foot I always have on my pegs, and I use my right foot for balance. I can hang-ten, hitchhiker, and double-foot dork wheelie, but that's the extent of my use of my right foot. If I try an opposite foot trick, I can never get into the balance point without the lofted wheel falling, or my body hitting the ground.

I can hang-ten my un-bike pretty well (this is rolling in circles, btw).

I couldn't answer the poll because there's no tripod option.

Poll is missing a choice: Irregular skateboarder and left foot forward on a bike.

I believe that's option #3, Doug.

OP...I do everything fakie.

I believe that's option #3, Doug.No, that's goofy-footed. I just meant irregular - - as in erratic, out-of-control and "what does that old fart think he's doing on a skateboard?" irregular :D.

Close your eyes and have someone shove you hard from behind.

This thread just got way funnier.

But for those of you who never tried any of the activities above, and don't know if you're regular or goofy, take this test:
1 - Lie facing down on the floor with your hands in a push up position. Then spring up in the air as fast as you can and jump as high as you can. When you land, land so that one knee touches the ground. Which leg is foward?

2 - Close your eye and have someone shove you hard from behind. Which leg goes forward first?

Kind of a silly question/comparision. Jumping around on the floor or getting shoved around doesn't necessarily translate into riding bikes.

Over time I've ended up riding using either foot forward, so I guess that makes me ambidextrous in that respect. In fact, I can't even remember now which one was my chocolate foot when I first started riding. I'm thinking that maybe the non-dominant thing started when I lost my eye, kinda balance issues and stuff.

Here's my question....is fakie = goofy?

If I'm a regular, then riding goofy would be "fakie" for me. If you're goofy, then riding regular would be fakie for you.

In skateboarding, when a regular foot rides goofyfoot, that's called "switch." There is a difference between riding fakie and riding switch.

When riding fakie, one is just going backwards but one's feet are still positioned like they would be when riding forward - i.e. if he's a regular foot, when he rides forward, his right foot is on the tail and his left foot is near the front trucks - and so if he goes fakie, his head will swivel around so he's looking the other direction, but his feet are still in that same position and he's just rolling backwards.

For switch, he actually moves the position of his feet so that the right foot comes down off the tail and takes its place near the truck bolts and his left foot goes up on the tail. A regular skater riding switch looks exactly like a goofyfoot as far as foot placement goes.

Hope that makes sense...many people, including skaters, don't understand this difference and name tricks wrongly.

Oh yeah, I surf/skate goofyfoot and also ride a bike goofyfoot - right foot forward. I really notice this on coasting off-road downhill because my right foot is taking most of my weight and my knee starts to hurt so I put the other pedal forward. Of course I should try to keep my weight balanced on both feet but I just find the front foot is taking more of the weight.

Is this the "official which leg forward" thread? If not, is there one?

Regardless of foot position, I am goofy on a skateboard.

Left foot forward when boosting, right foot forward when going downhill.

P.S. Why is "froward" in the spellcheck dictionary?

Right foot forward while driving.

The dude was banned. Do a search using "banned users" or "banned members". BF has a running thread of them.

I'm right foot forward (and normally right foot down when I coast). Left foot when I surf.

I don't put either foot forward. They both stay on the sides of the bike and I lead with the front tire.
