Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - 1973 Schwinn Paramount P-15

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hello, someone is selling a 1973 Schwinn Paramount P-15 locally through Craigslist for $400. It is red with chrome Nervex lugs. It has full Campy Nuovo Record, except the RD (easy to remedy that, though).
That's a great buy, isn't it? I've sent him an email and am hoping for a response.

If the frame and fork are straight with no (or minimal) rust, and neither the stem or seatpost is stuck, $400 is a bargain.
The RD will be either Campy Gran Turismo (1970 - mid-1972) or Shimano long cage Crane rebadged as "Schwinn-Approved Le Tour GT-300" (mid-1972 - late seventies). The GT-300 is basically first generation Dura-Ace and is far superior to the Gran Turismo in handling the triple chainring/14-31t freewheel chain wrap. If the bike has the GT-300, there's no reason to remedy it. ;)
Yes, this one has the GT-300 RD. Thanks for the info. Now if I could just get the owner of the bike to contact me . . . .
Don't be surprised if it is sold. C/L sellers often do not pull down ads, and often don't bother replying either.

I'd drive over there.
I checked craigslist this morning to see if the Paramount was still there and the ad states that it was sold. Too bad. It was even in my size!
