Hi everyone, LBS just granted me a $600.00 credit for a set of defective wheels I received with my Fuji team SL. I am considering a set of Velocity Spartacus Pros or FSA RD400 does anyone have any experience/info on these wheels. Thanks for the help.

I have sold a few sets to some customers recently and they are really pretty good wheels given the price tag. However if I had to pick out wheels in the $600 range I would likely go with Mavic Ksyriums in the elite or equipe model. Mavic has very high quality and they will be easier to find parts for down the road IF they ever need it. But the spartacus wheels are perfectly fine, they probably are not as durable as mavics though.

Ksyrium Elites sell new on ebay for around $400 a pair.

i own them and have put several thousand miles on them and think they're just ok.

the K Elites they are not super fast feeling wheels, the creaking thing is a disconcerting (a number of people have had this problem - search the forums for creaking or cracking ksyriums.. it's caused my the quick release and solved by greasing them well and making sure they're very tight) and the hubs on mine have come loose a few times in that period.

i guess those are not major concerns and all around, they're a decent wheel, but i would not pay $600 for this wheelset, considering for that price, you could own your choice of high-end hubs mated with open pros and built up with some nice light spoke into a beautiful work of art wheelset.
