Just got in from a lovely 25 mile ride in the country. Best part of all? Fresh wild raspberries in the ditch beside brand new blacktop. It just doesn't get any better than this! I hope I'm not the only one to take advantage of free fruit on my road rides. Anyone else want to confess? What's the most interesting thing you've found to eat on your rides?

See... I'm just afraid to eat things that I see growing in the wild. A neighbor down the street has concord grapes growing over the edge of his fence. A lot of times when I'm walking by, I manage to fenagle (sp?) some for me :)

I thought nature's GU was honey. :D
I keep 5 ounces of that in a gel flask in my rear pocket.

I like schnaffling some figs when i go riding down by Merri Creek. I stuff my back pockets with them and then take them home and bake them or wizz them through some Semi-Fredo.

Was hiking on the AT once, and found myself in the middle of a large field of wild Maine blueberries. They were wonderful, and I ate at least a pound. Next day I learned what happens when you that many blueberries....

Here in Maine they spray the roadsides with powerful pesticides to hold down brushy weeds. Personally, I'd think twice about fruit found roadside.

Snaged somebody's leftover Fiddle-Faddle while resting in the shade yesterday. Stale but good!
