i'm building a late 80's bianchi sport sx with some vintage super record parts i've been saving for my girlfriend. i know the sport sx is a lower end frame, so does anyone know if it was built in italy or if it was built in taiwan with the bianchi name?

I have a non-sx Sport of a similar vintage. Tange 900 tubing. It has a "made in Japan" sticker. Still, a nice frame. Nineteen pounds by the bathroom scale as a single speed. I like it a lot.

I have a Sport SX frame sitting in my basement waiting for me to decide what to do with it. Indeed it is Tange 900 made in Japan as halfspeed pointed out. Still, it was a great bike for me for YEARS. Mine was built up with 7-speed Shimano 600 before I parted it out.
Nice bike ... is it purple?

Although I could be snobbish about my Italian Bianchi, I readily concur that the Japan-built Bianchis are generally quite decent.

thank you for all of your help. it is a decent frame, and although i was really hoping it was italian i kind of figured it was made in asia. with the campy super record parts i have for it will be a lot like me, half japanese half italian. i have a 16 pound giant for racing, so i'm just building this for a fun project. it's currently red but i want to get it powdercoated the bianchi celeste. hopefully i can get new decals from bianchi.
