Tomorrow my brother in-law and I are going on our longest ride of the year and for that matter ever. Leaving Oshawa and going to Bancroft, Ontario. Lots of big long hills along the way with plenty of farm country at the start and ending in the woods of the Canadian Shield. Will be a 210k ride, looks like good weather and light winds. We've been planning this for a year but something always came up but we are leaving the house at 7am tomorrow with plans of being there around 5 or 6. Will give update when I return. The weekend coincides with our yearly family gathering that has a highlight of bocceball or as we call it drunken ball. Hope you all have a good weekend, get in lots of riding.

Good luck YC. I have been trying for the better part of two years to plan "The Big Ride", and as you say something always comes up. I for one enjoy living vicariously though everyone else's adventures when I can't enjoy my own.
Have a great time and enjoy the journey, and the bocceball, lol. It should be around the beginning of fall for you folks in the Great White North, so remember to take some pics when you guys take a rest stop.

Even with the big long hills, 10 - 11 hours is a very reasonable time for a 210k ride.
Randonneurs USA and Audax Club Parisien give 13h 30m for a 200k course. I'm sure you'll make your time goal and have a lot of fun with it... Maybe the start down the randonneuring path?
