Take two boxes of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese

Cook the noodles in ONE of the boxes

To that, add the cheese powder from BOTH boxes, 3/4 cup of half and half, and 1/4 stick of butter...

Tuna is optional, but I go ahead and dump in a can of drained chunk light...

O...M...G... is it good...

edit: optionally, spread in a small plate and top with Cheezits for a little crunch.. :p

How about this:

Cook plain noodles per instructions.
Melt 1/4 c butter and add 1/4c flour. Stir til mixed and light brown.
Add about 2c of milk to flour mixture. Whisk til smooth.
Stir in 4oz of shredded cheese (whatever floats your boat).

When noodles are done, mix into the cheese sauce. Add tuna (chopped green chile is good too) etc and VOILA - healthy mac'n cheese in just about the same time as the boxed chemical stuff. ;)

Or you could buy the Bob Evan's brand and not have to do all that chit.

Heh- I was just about to type that! Also good if you whisk 2 beaten eggs into the sauce before you add the cheese- makes it ever so much richer. Oh, and add 1TBS dry mustard to the flour. Life's too short to pollute it with Kraft.

Between the Cheezits, Bacon Explosion, and now this thread? Come on. I'm just getting warmed up.

If I really wanted to be mean, I'd tell you to sautee 2 Tbsp of minced garlic in 1/2c olive oil, and then brush that over a 9x12" piece of naan bread...

Sautee 1/2lb chicken breast meat with cumin, chili powder, cayenne, onions, bell peppers, oregano, and some other goodies, shred it, and put it on the naan bread...

pile on 2c of shredded cheeses and put in the broiler until the cheese is bubbling and starting to turn brown...

Then, roll it up lengthwise, brush the OUTSIDE with garlic olive oil, and bake at 425 until the outside is crispy...

About 900g of fat in all that...

But, I'm not going to be mean...

I haven't made homemade mac & cheese in years. Wow - like 13 yrs or longer since the exhusband and I split - but I made it with at least 4 cheeses - starting with a roux made with real butter and then dry mustard, some cayanne for a little bite, and toasted bread crumbs on top --- it was awesome.

Since then it's been Mom's overcooked macaroni with melted american cheese (and not much of it) or a box of kraft mac & cheese - just doesn't do it ... and I always have a box of that somewhere in the pantry - haven't had that in a long time tool - it's there for emergency purposes only.

Oh - and Rich, U suck. I was going to head to store and stop off at new vietnamese restaurant and try their pho soup with tofu, but now I'm wanting something a little more ... meatier.

I make a crockpot mac n cheese. It has 2 16oz. boxes of elbow noodles, 2lbs of cheese (sharp, mild), 2 cans of Campbell's cheddar cheese soup, 2 whole eggs, large can of evaporated milk, 2 sticks of butter, salt and pepper to taste.

It's nasty good.

A recipe that was loved by the best modern day President the US has ever had:

Macaroni & Cheese: Food of Presidents

Ronald Reagan’s favorite food was macaroni and cheese. Here’s his recipe, as prepared by the White House staff:

Ronald Reagan’s Macaroni & Cheese Recipe
From The White House Family Cookbook by H. Haller and V. Aronson

Serves 4 as an entrée, or 6 to 8 as a side dish

Ingredients

1/2 pound macaroni
1 tablespoon butter
1 egg beaten
3 cups grated sharp Cheddar cheese
1 cup warm milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Pinch of paprika

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter a 2-quart casserole dish.
Add macaroni to 2 quarts of boiling salted water and cook for 10 minutes.
Drain well in a colander. Transfer to a mixing bowl.
Stir in butter and beaten egg. Add 2-1/2 cups of the grated cheese.
In a small bowl, combine milk with salt, mustard and Worcestershire sauce.
Spoon macaroni and cheese into the prepared casserole. Pour milk mixture over and sprinkle top with the remaining cheese.
Sprinkle with paprika. Bake on middle shelf of preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until macaroni is firm to the touch and the top is crusty and browned.
Serve at once, either as a light entree accompanied by a hot green vegetable and a crisp salad, or as a side dish with Hamburgers or Meat Loaf.
