Anyone have a good saddle recommedation for someone that will do some cross/trail riding as well as some road. I typically defer to Brooks, but my concern is dirt and it getting wet. Any suggestions?

If you like Brooks, use a Brooks. Just make an effort to keep the leather "fed" with a leather food containing beeswax. Boots made of leather cope with much worse. It's tough stuff as long as you take care of it.

Arione is a good choice for that reason.

nice saddle. burlier than the toupe, and very comfy once setup properly.

Counterpoint: Arione is bad choice because it's so long in the back.

I dont think that is much of a detriment. In fact it allows you to get a good pinch on the saddle in technical situations, and allows you to stay seated and still deliver the power. I could see going to a longer saddle being troublesome if you are used to a significantly less tailed saddle, but if you are not I would not see it being a problem.

edit: i apologize, bikeforums, for originally using too many capital letters in my post. it's quite obvious that i was trolling and not legitimately posting the name of a bicycle component that happens to be spelled out in capital letters.

+1. Tried the WTB Vigo, found it too pointy and too wide. Went back to the trusted WTB Rocket V Pro and am done worrying about saddles!

I use a cheap sette lynx saddle on my ss cx bike and a 2007 model leather titec pluto on my geared cx bike- and they're essentially the exact same saddle. The rails/shell are used by a few different companies and when I bought it it was like a $20 saddle compared to the titec which was $40 on clearance. I love it, actually, and it's super cheap.

I always had luck with Regals back when I raced. In fact, I still ride them exclusively.
