to start off....Hey, i'm tony and i'm new here

i've ridden mountain bikes since i was little, but then i found the joy of my car and well i really haven't touched it much in my later teenage years...well my baby which i have loved since i was little a Miyata elevation 2000 (might be 3000 i can't remeber and i don't wanna walk out to my garage to look), i just took it out of the shed and have taken it apart and i'm going to repaint it...and i have come to sprockets where the pedals are and i really can't figure out how to take them off...everything else is off the bike and i'm just stuck at this point, i have a tool that is suppose to be used for it but i have no idea how it exactly works...

i'd do a search but i don't exactly know what the pieces are called... any help would be great.

Take off the whole crank arm. Remove the cap at the base of the crank arm, take out the nut or bolt, and washer(may or may not have a washer) and thread a crank extractor into the crank. Make sure it goes in straight and easy, if you strip the threads in the crank, out that is a problem. Once threaded in just turn the extractor handle to push the crank off the spindle.

finally got it off...and still sanding down the frame...i'm still looking around for a paint that will give me that "JDM" look (makes sense sincse it's a jap. bike) since i'm gonna use the bike to represent a car site that was founded by my buddies.

If you are willing to drop some cash, you can go to a custom motorcycle shop where they do painting of gas tanks for motorcycles. They can hook you up with a good powdercoater who can put a nearly indestructable paint job on your frame in any of hundreds of different colors.

It is a little pricey, but doesn't chip easily and looks phenomenal.

well the bike has been painted (by me :) ) and yeah pics will be up this evening or later...

honda color...emerald mist pearl...sherwin williams paint...pure sex.. :)
